K.O. Needs Help With Medical Bills

Donation protected
Hi, I'm K.O. (or Kebechet) and I am an autistic, disabled, nonbinary artist out of Massachusetts.

During the past year things have gotten really bad with both my mental and physical health.

In August, I developed ovarian cysts due to the birth control I was on. They burst and I was hospitalized for about a week, and then in isolation for about a week to ensure I hadn't contracted COVID.

In September, the trauma of the way I was treated caused my C-PTSD to flare up intensely, causing panic attacks and adrenaline surges large enough to also induce nonepileptic seizures. I was admitted to the ER a few times before learning what they were, as I would injure myself when seizing.

In December, I started having continuous pain in my lower abdomen. I was sedated and had both a colonoscopy and endoscopy, both of which turned up no answers. The pain has subsided recently, but I am still working with doctors to figure out what the cause might be.

In January, they got even worse. I had been taken off the birth control that caused my cysts in August and when my hormones returned to "normal" my doctors realized that I also have PMDD (Premenstrual dysphoric disorder). This increased my issues with mental illness and SI. The solution to this would be going onto another birth control, however due to preexisting conditions, the rest all pose significant risks to my health. I am still working with doctors to resolve this issue.

In March, I had a panic attack in a parking lot and someone called the police on me. They attempted to arrest me for public intoxication. I go nonverbal during my panic attacks and they refused to provide me with a way to communicate with them. Eventually they called my wife and she explained that I wasn't intoxicated, just autistic. They let me go, however the fear still follows me and I have regular nightmares about how I was treated.

April and May have been rather awful, as none of these issues have fully resolved themselves and I am still having regular trauma nightmares over what has happened in the past year, as well as previous traumas I hold. What was originally one or two medical bills that I thought I could pay off has turned into a large amount of debt, some of which they are sending to collection. The stress is making all of my symptoms worse and I often am now dissociated fully from reality and have to be kept under almost full time surveillance which is being done by my partner and my friends. This has made it nearly impossible for me to find a job.

If by some miracle we reach over my goal, all the rest of the funds will be used to pay for my upcoming appointments and/or therapy sessions.

Thank you for listening to what has happened to me. If you are unable to donate please share.
