My thoughts are with my Edgewater neighbors today as many awaken displaced from their homes and detached from all personal belongings as a result of last night’s 5 alarm fire in the Avalon apt complex. The events of last night rekindle memories from a fire in 2000 when I was in 3rd grade across the street at E.V.G. Last night, many of my peers from E.V.G were leaders in fighting the blaze. What I remember most from the fire in 2000 is how swiftly residents of Edgewater came together to provide shelter and clothing to those in need and I expect nothing less today. 1,000 residents of Edgewater are homeless as the fire destroyed the 408-unit Avalon apartment complex.
