I started this fundraiser for my daughter Lexie and her boyfriend Dawson to help my granddog Duke.

Last Thursday, 10/2, Duke wasn’t acting himself. They noticed the smallest of changes, like him not laying in his normal spots. They thought maybe his hips hurt. He’s 4 years old but was diagnosed with hip dysplasia when he was a puppy.

Here’s the post his mama posted:

“If everyone could please send some PRAYERS for Duke, they are needed! Thursday (10/2) he wasn’t quite acting himself. Friday (10/3) he couldn’t stop puking, so his vet said they wanted to see him. They ran tests, got blood work, X-rays, and ultimately decided to keep him for some fluids and IV medications. We got sent home with tons of meds over the weekend, and he seemed to do okay. Today (Tuesday, 10/7) he woke up puking again. The vet had me bring him back in; they did more tests, more X-rays, shaved his poor belly for an ultrasound, and we got sent home with even more medications. They are thinking/treating an ulcer (caused by his hip medication), but our biggest worry is it can cause perforation. The vet said if he pukes again, he will have to come back in, and our next step would be exploratory laparotomy to find the root of our issue. So please, please pray for this sweet boy.”

Duke puked again overnight Tuesday and was taken to the vet first thing Wednesday morning (10/8). He stayed all day and received IV meds. His Dr. was hopeful at this point that they could avoid an exploratory surgery.

He had to go back again Thursday (10/9) to spend the day at the vet for observation, where he again got more IV medications.

Today, Friday, 10/10, Duke wouldn’t eat or take his meds at home. Back to the vet again. They helped get his meds in him and sent him home. By this afternoon, they noticed blood in his stool. The veterinarian says if they do not see any improvement over the weekend, he will go in for a barium study on Monday (10/13).

We are continuing to pray for answers and improvement in Duke.

Duke is not just a dog; he is family. I would like to help take some of the financial burden away from Lexie and Dawson from all of these unexpected vet visits.
