Lauren and Evan Vs Cancer..part 2

Donation protected
This isn't your typical love story. Or family story. Or cancer story. Unfortunately it isn't a fictional story either. It starts over a year ago when my brother Michael found out he was going to have a baby with the woman he loved. Not long after that, they found out Lauren had cervical cancer, and it was aggressive. They tried a couple surgeries that were considered high risk for the baby, but the little guy was a fighter and came through just fine. Unfortunately so did the cancer. They ended up doing chemo treatments for the rest of her pregnancy. Lauren and the baby did so well through it that she carried him through 35 weeks! On June 17th, 2015 Evan Allan Crowe was born a healthy little boy! And Lauren had another procedure done to get rid of the rest of the cancer that hadn't shrunk in the chemotherapy. A few weeks later they got the call that the test came back all clear! There was no more cancer!!!

Unfortunately in December, Lauren starting feeling ill again. She lost her appetite, and was having trouble keeping anything down. Michael ended up taking her to an emergency room, where they admitted her due to partial kidney failure. They ran several tests and scans, one of which showed several masses in her pelvic region. After having several surgeries to repair her kidneys, they completed a biopsy on one of the masses. The results were the worst kind of results you can get...she was positive for cancer again. She officially has a recurrence of the cervical cancer, which her doctor described as a “very very very very bad thing” as it is hard to treat.

Lauren has been in the hospital since December 29th. My mom flew down from Michigan to help out with Evan, which has been a huge blessing. Lauren and Michael celebrated the New Year by saying cheers with water in her hospital bed, before kissing while the nurse changed her fluids in the IV.

Lauren was a fighter once and is going to be a fighter again. She is determined to beat cancer for a second time so she can continue to watch her son grow up and spend the rest of her life with Michael.

So many people have asked to help in some way and I know my brother does not feel comfortable asking for help again when everyone was so kind with their first battle. So send prayers, thoughts, letters to them to make them smile. Well wishes and funny stories! Help them kick cancers ass again!!

Thank you everyone!
