Hi, my name is Tara and I am requesting donations for a really good friend of mine. I do not have siblings, so therefore, God has blessed me with a few really awesome girlfriends who are like sisters to me and right now one of my sisters is going through life in a really bad way.
Her real name is Latasha Carter, but because I'm special, I give all of my friends cute nick names, and she is my "Chocolate Milk".
I met her about 13 years ago in Michigan when we were both working for a really large communications company and we are still in that field. We both have relocated, her in South Carolina and I in Virginia Beach and we continue to remain as close as ever. She is very hard working, a single mother with 1 daughter and she has a HUGE heart with a tablespoon of pride. My sister is always the one to help others but VERY uncomfortable asking for help, so.....after about 26 minutes of convincing her to allow me to set up a "go fund me account" for her.....my Chocolate Milk caved :)
Her daughter (Janece) was diagnosed with pneumonia and Covid about 1 month ago. Janece just celebrated her 16th birthday this summer and on the first day of school, she felt really sick. The next day her mom took her to the emergency room. Things were not progressing the way the doctors felt, so Janece was relocated to MUSC Children's Hospital in Charleston, SC and to this day she is still sedated.
All I can do is be as supportive as I can, we have cried together, prayed together and I keep telling her....this too shall pass and before you know it, Janece will back home soon acting like a teenager :)
Unfortunately, my sisterfriend has been out of work, FMLA is running out, her funds have been depleted, its a 2 hour drive (over 90 miles) from her home to the hospital, the Ronald McDonald House is not able to assist her with transportation or shelter due to the long waiting list and her daughter testing positive for Covid. So at this point she is tapped out. I don't believe a parent should have to worry about if they are going to be homeless, jobless, finances, etc., when their child is sedated.
It is a difficult time for many of us during this pandemic and we can only do the best we can do. My request is that if you are able to help her out with any monetary donation towards living expenses, bills, transportation, etc., we would all be grateful and if not, prayers, good vibes and positivity are accepted as well.
