It is more than just a room, it is a chance to live independently for the first time with the needed support to make this transition possible. Finances as a college student are tight, and scholarships for adults with Intellectual Disabilities are rare. However, this should not be a barrier. Please help us give a life-changing chance to a student in need.

Knights Exemplar is a UCF organization that supports UCF's program Inclusive Education Services (IES). IES is a post-secondary educational opportunity for adults with Intellectual Disabilities. In Knights Exemplar we come alongside the IES students in academic support, career exploration, campus involvement, and health and wellness. Knights Exemplar creates a community and friendship between UCF Knights of all abilities.

This past year we noticed a factor that put a barrier to some of our students experiencing the full college experience... finances! The program covers tuition however, additional expenses are for the student to cover. While students have access to independent living in the dorms with support from a residential mentor, the price of dorms for one year is $6,400. The students in Knights Exemplar have come together to raise $7,000 for our first-ever scholarship to be awarded to a second-year IES student with financial need to cover the cost of dorms for one year. The Knights Exemplar members have developed a student and alumni fundraising team consisting of UCF general education and IES students to raise enough money to make this scholarship possible.

In our scholarship fundraiser, our Knights Exemplar students will be running a social media campaign, talking to their local communities, selling sponsorship ads on our #MoreThanALabel Shirts and more.
