Help Michelle Fight Cancer

Our friend, colleague, teacher, and advocate, Michelle has started her battle with breast cancer.

She is due to have surgery in mid July, and she will then undergo treatment. During this time, she will have a reduced income, and she will also have considerable out of pocket costs for her medical care. I would like us to work together to support Michelle and her husband Mark. Let's gather funds so they can focus on Michelle's health during this difficult time.

I met Michelle when I started to work at Hilltop Children's Center many years ago. I remember how open and friendly she was to this new hire, and her direct way to ask questions was very refreshing and encouraging to me. Michelle is a person who is not afraid to communicate with honesty, yet, you can always see that her words come from a place of kindness and care. This pandemic year, I had the opportunity to work with Michelle in the same classroom, and I learned even more that she goes above and beyond to support her students and families. One day, she told me that she still wakes up each morning excited to see her students and be in the classroom. That still keeps her going after all these years of teaching.

If you know Michelle, you know that she is a fierce fighter for justice, fairness, and equity. She speaks up to right the wrongs so everyone gets the right treatment as human beings. She continuously looks for opportunities to serve young children in the wider community. It is our turn to celebrate Michelle's work, and support her and Mark by collecting funds.
