Hi, my name is Bridget and I am fundraising to have my right knee replaced privately. The average age for a knee replacement in the UK is 69. My osteoarthritis has developed at such an early age that I had my left knee replaced at 52. Although I am extremely grateful to the NHS for everything, their wait times meant I spent 2 years in agony waiting for my new knee. My life became smaller and smaller and every single aspect of life was just pain. I am asking for help so that I can have more control over when my right knee is replaced and to not have to wait in pain. This will make planning my life easier. Planning around caring for my daughter who has Down Syndrome and booking a date that has the least impact on work. As an Exams Officer at a secondary school, I would love to be able to have the surgery in the Summer holidays.
Any help is appreciated. If I don't reach my goal, I will use whatever funds are donated towards private scans and consultations that may speed the ultimate goal up.
Thank you.
