Hi friends!

I am Rod Pierce, father of two, a 16 year old daughter and 13 year old son.  THEY ARE MY LIFE!  I am also fortunate to have been a Cruise Director traveling the high seas for many years which I ended with the 2nd birthday of my daughter to be home and start a family.

Approximately 18 months ago I was stunned to find blood in my stool.  I went to emergency room and was suggested that I had a interior rectal hemorrhoid.  I was suggested to see my family practitioner.  Unfortunately, as many of my closest friends and family know, I have experienced a few tough years and do not have medical insurance and income was difficult as well.  I therefore "toughed it out."  Unfortunately, as of roughly March 2015, my discomfort began being accompanied by pain and fatigue.  Inclusive of in the middle of the night, rather than sleeping, I made restroom stops approximately every 45 minutes.  I barely slept.

I finally made an appointment and met with my family doctor in August, and we arranged blood tests to see what's going on.  I also was suggested to make a few modifications to my diet.  The test came back showing my IRON and B-12 was severely low (which made sense considering the time of blood loss, etc.).

A few weeks later, my doctor and I agreed that I should have a colonoscopy as quickly as possible as I was also beginning to experience a considerable amount of pain at my tailbone.  Also, still fatigued.  The colonoscopy showed that I have a mass that is rectal cancer.  Approximately two-thirds of my rectal passage was blocked and having difficulty "going."

As a safety precaution, it was decided to also have a Cat scan to see if the cancer had spread.  Unfortunately it has.  The prognosis is not favorable but 50% of the battle is remaining positive!  With this information, both chemo and radiation have been discussed so test were making ready for this process.

Over the past week, I have noticed that I am experiencing much MORE difficulty attempting to relieve myself;  SEVERE constipation, little to no discharge.  During my firtst visit to me "marked" for future radiation treatments, the radiologist and doctor noticed that the rectum was blocked even more.  A sudden urgency as we cannot have 100% bowel obstruction so I am having surgery tomorrow, 1/7/15 for a colostomy.

I am recently blessed to have received Ohio Medicaid but, I have Medical bills prior to their approval.

I am raising money for two hopes (my wishes) to assist pay the medical bills I have that were not covered prior to acceptance to Medicaid.  The remaining ,God willing, will be used to take my children on a cruise as they have never been.  You know, "I'll always have time."

Should the cruise be possible, this would mean the world to me as all they know, they have seen through photos.  From birth until my leaving the cruise industry, my daughter had been on cruise but she was only two years old or younger and has no memory.  I am familiar with organizations that assist for kids in my situation such as "Make a Wish" foundation but do not believe that I can see such a group for my predicament.

I have been and am blessed to be heavily involved with my church inclusive of formerly being the youth director and through them, an extended family.  I am blessed!  Over the past years in some of my darkest times they have helped me so much for which I am grateful!  Should funds be made available via "Go Fund Me," again, I know I am blessed beyond all measure.

Thank you for taking time to read my information and kow that I am eternally grateful for your consideration.  God bless you and Thank you!
