KL's Gender Revolution
Donation protected
Hey Folks,
KL here. Thanks for spending a little bit of your day coming to my page and hearing about my story. Something about my fund-raiser title resonated with you so I want to say Welcome!
I'm a 54 year old, trans gender revolutionary person from regional Victoria, Australia. I started my personal gender revolution in 2018 at the age for 48 after a conversation with my (then) 20 year old nibling who was self identifying as gender non-conforming. A penny dropped for me and I started to question my own gender ... realising that the idols I worshipped in the music industry in the 80's and the gender-fuckery I loved to play within safer communities was all part of a wider knowledge that "I am valid".
As a person living with a disability for most of my adult life, my income has always been limited by my inability to work. As we also know, revolutions aren't cheap!
The gender revolution is not just my personal one. Those who are visible in their gender revolution help to make life safer for those who aren't out or even able to. This is proven by the hash tags #VisibilityMatters and #Visibilty365 that we see all the time on the socials. We live in a world where trans and gender diverse people are targets of hate campaigns from the personal day to day, to the politicians and media having a go at the community. So this is not a 'safe' life that we live. To have a body that doesn't align with your gender is like constantly living in a costume that only comes off when you are at home! Even then, the costume is stuck to your skin and you can't remove it all...
In the past 3 years I have undergone multiple surgeries for better health outcomes taking me from being bed ridden 90% of the time to being able to walk 6km without too much pain. One of those surgeries was for weight loss. I have now lost almost half my body weight in 2.5 years. This is a wonderful feeling!
The down side is my skin is sagging, my chest has deflated there are a lot of areas of my body that now give me body dysphoria. I have been binding my chest daily for years which is taking it's toll on my spine, an aspect of the disability I live with.
I am in the process of getting a quote for the cost of surgery/surgeries that will help affirm my gender and if you are able to help me offset the costs, then Viva La Revolution!
For now, the goal is $10,000 as that is base amount that it could possibly be, I will dust the amount when I get the quote next month.
I understand that the cost of living is hitting everyone hard. I ask that if you can, donate. If you can't, please share as widely as you can.
Many thanks for reading and welcome to the revolution!
