Help us Find Safety and a Future Beyond Gaza

Greetings, I am Mai. I am a mother of four children: Karam and Abdelkareem, my 9-year-old twin sons; Joanna, my 6-year-old daughter; and little Lana, just 4 years old.

Not long ago, our lives were filled with love, stability, and hope. I had meaningful work, a home, and a close-knit family. But everything changed suddenly.

On October 7th, due to escalating violence and growing insecurity in our area, we were forced to leave our home in northern Gaza. The place that once gave us comfort and safety was destroyed, and we were left with nothing but what we could carry. We moved south in search of refuge, hoping for safety, but instead encountered even greater hardship.

We also suffered a profound personal loss, many relatives from my extended family passed away, including my father and brother. My children have been deeply affected. Their joyful spirits have been replaced with constant fear and emotional distress. Their education and sense of safety have been disrupted, and their well-being has deteriorated due to the uncertainty and instability around us.

We currently live in very difficult conditions in a temporary shelter in Gaza. We have no electricity or gas, and water is scarce. Each day is a challenge to find enough fuel to cook a basic meal. The shared facilities are overcrowded, and essential supplies are extremely limited. My children have developed skin conditions due to the environment, and we all face the effects of undernourishment. I have lost 10 kilos, and my husband has lost 20.

Despite everything, we are holding on.

Our Hope: Reuniting with My Husband's Brother in Canada

We have lost our home, our belongings, and our livelihoods, but we have not lost hope. My brother in law lives in Canada, and our greatest wish is to join him so that we can rebuild our lives in a safe and supportive environment.
