Light Up The Parks

 

How much? - We are looking for £8,000 to ensure we can provide all corners of the Hill/Alexandra Rd area, as well as routes to the sea front businesses with enough light to truly do Clevedon justice. The lights will facilitate a reason for extra trading hours for local businesses, draw attention to their areas and increase footfall and help illuminate a new Christmas market we hope to host in conjunction with the Clevedon Sunday Market. We hope to use this community project to connect and collaborate with other local groups and create an event that we can repeat for years to come.

Building on the success of the illuminations in Alexandra Park last December, the group of independent businesses behind the idea, in partnership with the Clevedon BID, are looking to "Light Up The Parks" once again for the festive season in 2021 with a few bigger and brighter additions to Alexandra Park and the Copse Park areas in Clevedon.

 

 

 

 

Last year, the lights were a collaborative project between the BID, independent businesses and a lighting company based in Kenn, who, after a quiet year for obvious reasons.... wanted to help us install festive cheer to the town using their expertise in illuminations. Fineline Lighting are known nationally for their work with live music & festivals, live events, corporate, film, television, fashion, theatre, sporting and experiential events. With 2020 being such a washout when it came to live experiences, they offered their services at a discount, so that their hometown and local community could celebrate Christmas safely and enjoy a festive outdoor experience. What started off as as stunning selection of lights to bring us all a little bit closer together in spirit, organically grew into a quiet hub of evening activity with local businesses staying open late to serve food & drink and gave many shops an opportunity to stay open later and let customers support local businesses safely. The installations brought a little "light" relief not only to the community who came to see them, but a boost to the local independent economy.

 

 

 

 

This year, we've seen most businesses and events back in action and we're looking to do the same again, but with a few extra touches! It's important we return our business to Fineline Lighting. We want to use their services in full, after what was a fantastic display and such a positive experience for so many last December.  

 

 

 

 

To put everything we had last year, plus some additional lights to ensure walkways through Copse Park to the sea front are well lit, extra trees are illuminated and we might have plans for a glitter ball(!).... we need your help. We need to raise £8,000 to cover all the additional costs and ensure this project continues for years to come. Any additional funds raised will be donated to the Clevedon Skate Project. We have until the 18th November to raise the money, so time is tight!
