Ron Johnson, Steve Fabus’s life partner as well as a beloved barback and coat check attendant at F8, recently fainted during a shift and hit his head on the cement floor. This resulted in a skull fracture along with bleeds and bruising of the brain - a traumatic brain injury.

He is now facing multiple challenges from the traumatic brain injury, including hospitalization and long-term recovery. While he has made some progress in his journey, he has lost much of his hearing and is unable to walk without assistance.

While optimistic about his eventual return to work, Ron will most likely be out for an extended period of time without income to pay for monthly bills and unforeseen expenses associated with his accident. Living expenses in San Francisco are monumental. Plus, Ron will need to purchase ambulatory devices to assist in walking and hearing, like walkers, canes, a hearing aid, and a special headset with Bluetooth capability, so he is able to talk on the phone.

Once at home, he will need extended occupational and physical therapy. There will be needs that insurance won’t cover. Ron needs our help in facing what has already occurred and what lies ahead.
