Nathan is our three year old boy who has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 high risk neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive childhood cancer that has turned our world completely upside down. Nathan is currently going through intensive chemotherapy and will soon need surgery, stem cell transplants, radiotherapy and immunotherapy. The treatment is brutal — his tiny body has been through so much already. He’s constantly sick, vomiting, covered in bruises, and suffering blood noses from low platelets. Most days, he sleeps for hours, barely able to stay awake. Every now and then we get a glimpse of his old self — a cheeky smile, a giggle — and it reminds us of the happy, lively boy he was before all of this began. It’s heartbreaking beyond words to watch our bright, playful little boy go through something no child should ever have to face. Nathan used to light up every room — he was full of energy, laughter, and life. Now, cancer has stolen so much from him, and from all of us. This journey has taken an enormous toll on our family. I’ve had to stop working to care for Nathan full-time, we spend most of our days and nights in hospital, which is an hour away from home. It means I’ve missed so much time with my other children — school pick-ups, homework, bedtime stories, and just the normal family moments that used to fill our days. It breaks my heart that I can’t be there for them like I used to. We’re asking for help to ease some of the financial pressure as we focus on helping Nathan fight this terrible disease. The funds will go towards: • Travel for hospital stays and appointments • Medication and treatment-related expenses • Loss of income as we are down to one wage while I care for Nathan, we are looking for support for day to day expenses such as rent, bills and basic daily living • Small moments of joy for Nathan and his siblings — anything to bring a sense of normality and happiness back into their lives No family is ever prepared for something like this.
