Help Ryan Rebuild after tragic fire

Hello friends & family,

I'm Ryan Monolopolus, and just celebrated my ten year anniversary in Atlanta. I've been blessed with a great life, great friends, great adventures, to chase my dreams in film, and grow to become a proud member of our community.

I'm sharing this as for the first time in my life, I'm genuinely unclear on what comes next; I have no home, most of my things are destroyed, and I'm in limbo trying to pick up the pieces. I'm not a fan of asking for help like this -- but so many people have reached out to ask (and how grateful I am for that), I figured this made the most sense.

Unfortunately, after an amazing 4th of July holiday -- tragedy struck at 5:30AM.

I awoke to our house fully in flames from what we would later learn was a random freak electrical explosion. As appliances in our house exploded in the fire, and black toxic smoke filled the house past our knees, my partner and I were able to crawl and get out.

Unaware if my roomates were still in the house, I went back in to try and find them upstairs. I passed out briefly from smoke inhalation, and luckily found they weren't in their rooms. Blind and unable to breath I fell down the stairs on my way out -- but was able to get back up to my feet and out of the house after.

We turned on the garden hoses and did what we could until the fire department arrived in 6 minutes. Luckily they were able to kill the power and stop the fire before they had to let it go and burn.

Luckily for us, my roomates were gone and my partner made it out safely. We suffered some minor burns and I went by ambulance to Grady hospital where I was treated for throat burns and carbon monoxide poisoning.

I now have no voice from the throat damage and am having trouble bending and walking from the fall down the stairs. I'm so thankful we all got out and things could have been way worse -- but am simultaneously struggling with the loss of most everything I own -- a life time of adventures and memories literally up in smoke.

We have friends who are helping in some amazing ways -- I truly am blessed -- but I am now dealing with thousands of dollars of expenses, relocating, and doing what I can to salvage, clean, or replace things that have irreplaceable value.

If I am someone you know in your life -- and man have I grown over the years and am far from a perfect person -- I do hope you know me as a positive, hardworking, and community minded individual. I have dedicated my life to leadership in martial arts, am very active in my community, and genuinely care to help others when I can.

I'm humbly asking with zero expectations -- if you feel inclined to help -- this would mean the world to me. Funds will cover our shared expenses at the house first -- and will help my roomate Kaleb as well. No matter what, I will pick up the pieces and be stronger for it -- and be a better man for it.
