Support Derek's Fight

We are reaching out to everyone in our community for support for Derek. Many of you have been there for Derek these last 5 years during his battle. For those of you who don’t know, Derek was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in March of 2019. He underwent chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant. He recovered and spent a few years farming and enjoying life with family. Unfortunately, in August of 2022, his cancer relapsed, and he had to undergo more chemotherapy. A couple months into treatment, Derek’s body was overtaken by infection and the doctors told Derek that he had irreversible lung damage. This meant he would have to live off a ventilator for the rest of his life with weeks to months to live. Derek beat all odds and chose to fight and put his faith in God. He walked out of the hospital and his cancer was in remission once again. His battle didn’t end there. The leukemia made an appearance a few months later. Since then, he has experienced many hospital stays, fevers, infections, blood transfusions, and a multitude of trial chemotherapy drugs. None of these drugs can quite eliminate the cancer from his body. Derek and his wife Lyndsay have decided to take a more holistic approach going forward. They will be traveling to California to seek treatment at the Cancer Center for Healing.

Currently, we are asking for all your support. One of our first requests is to help Derek and Lyndsay out financially. They will be having many travel and medical expenses during this new journey. The treatment he will receive in California will not be covered by insurance. Lyndsay has been by Derek’s side every step of the way and has put her career on hold. Anything you can give would be considered a blessing. As mentioned above, Derek has received countless infusions of blood products. Derek is receiving almost daily blood and platelet transfusions and wouldn’t be here today without the donated blood from others. We ask you to consider donating blood to help save the lives of those around you. Finally, and above all, we sincerely ask for your prayers for Derek. Derek has leaned on God during his battle and God has shown up time and time again. We ask that you pray for safe travels, knowledge and guidance for the doctors, fearlessness, a warrior mentality, and above all, healing and restoration. Judges 6:12 says, “the Lord is with you mighty warrior”.
