On January 4th, 2020 a diagnosis done at a hospital changed the life of a beautiful hearted human named Camille (35 years old). Not only her life was changed, but her daughter's (11 years old Michela), and many other humans lives were also impacted by this devasting news. For months and months before that day Camille experienced many disturbances physically and emotionally. The life-changing news or the diagnosis is called Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL). ALL is a type of blood cancer that starts from young white blood cells called lymphocytes in the bone marrow.
Camille went through an exhausting phase for many months trying to figure out the issue. She experienced dizzy spells to the point of feeling she was going to pass out, she always felt tired and exhausted - she visited her doctor and the hospital a few times but was always sent home being told everything was fine until she was finally diagnosed after many different tests and that's when everything started to make sense.
Since Michela was born, Camille has been a single mother who raised her daughter all on her own. This mother and daughter have an exceptionally bonding relationship and they have never been away from each other from the start. Camille is an outstanding mother and has always strived for the best life for Michela. She worked at a nursing home for many years taking care of elderlies, she went on sick leave due to her many difficulties with her health. Camille always had a dream of working at Southlake Hospital. She had finally got a job there and was supposed to start her position on January 7th but she was admitted to Princess Margaret hospital in Toronto on January 9th to begin her treatments.
Doctors have told Camille that the treatment process for this type of cancer can take from a year to three years when she will not be able to work. The cost of her treatments is only covered while she's fully admitted to the hospital. After that, the treatments will continue for as long as needed which are not going to be covered. During this entire time, Camille doesn't have any income and not only paying for her treatments but paying for rent and other necessities will become very challenging.
We are a few of Camille and Michela's family and friends who decided to start this Go Fund Me page.
