Help Salah & family to eat, and to pay for medical supplies

Donation protected
My name is Suzie Halewood. I am a filmmaker raising funds for a chef (and physical trainer) in Gaza called Salah who is in need urgent medical care. Salah is the sole provider for his family. During the genocide, he distributed food and shoes to the children of Gaza. But due to the conditions there, the difficulty in accessing clean water or healthy detoxifying foods, Salah has developed large, painful kidney stones in both kidneys which - if untreated - could lead to kidney failure. The Rafah crossing may open next week and it is essential Salah can get treatment outside Gaza. In the meantime, he needs to pay for expensive medication and the basics to feed his family. Whatever you are able to donate, will be gratefully received and passed on to Salah. Thank you to all those who have donated so far - you really have made a huge difference to Salah and his family.

Below is a message from Salah:

Before October 7, Gaza was beautiful, despite the siege. Housing, water, food, welfare, education and treatment were available. I had my own business and my children used to exercise with me daily. After October 7, we lost electricity when our power source was destroyed. We quickly began our search for safety but there is nowhere safe in the Gaza Strip as everything has been destroyed.

We have been without access to water due to the destruction of the water wells and what water we can access only reaches our area every two weeks for only two hours. We must walk long distances to fetch even one gallon. We have also started looking for a way to scrape together some money and food sustain ourselves, even just a loaf or whatever flour is available, but because of the lack of basic supplies we have struggled to obtain even a small amount of firewood to cook food or heat water for bathing. Now we have been forced to search for shelter due to the shelling that affected our house. We have been displaced more than once from schools to hospitals.

For a while we were in Jabalia where the dead lie in the alleys and neighborhoods, and the hungry and thirsty hide in the houses and buildings. The smell of blood and gunpowder emanates from its alleys and streets. No sound of ambulances. No light or electricity. No hospitals to treat the pain and heal the wounded - everyone is counted as though the dead. Jabalia catches its breath and refuses to surrender, waiting for someone to save it.

While I would like to bring my family members to safety outside the Gaza Strip, there is currently no escape. The psychological effect on my family and my children is very bad due to the state of terror that we live in every day and every hour because danger is everywhere - and this, we hear, could go on until the end of 2025.

In the meantime, we need to find water, food and shelter for the people of Gaza until this war ends.

We live with hope.
