Hello, my name is Rydarryian (Ry) for short.
Im not sure where else to turn to. These past 2/3 years have been a rollercoaster of emotions and trifling times.
The beautiful woman you see in the thumbnail is my mother. She means the world to my younger brother and me. One day she reported to us having pain in her lower abdomen. After some time of this pain existing, she was admitted to seek out a medical opinion. Unfortunately, after some time, lab results came back stating to have found an Ulcerated mass in her Colon. This is where our lives would become a new series of challenges.
On July 14, 2020, my mother was diagnosed with Stage 3 Rectal cancer. She underwent treatment (Foldox or Flox), chemotherapy, and then eventually surgery to remove the ulcerated mass. The doctors reported it a success, this was wonderful news.
After some time had passed she went back for a medical evaluation. Once the lab results came back, she was shocked in disbelief. She then had a second opinion conducted which confirmed the fear she had from the first evaluation after surgery.
She gathered our family together to give us all the news. Unfortunately, the cancer had not only returned but spread to her lungs, liver and abdomen. This was around earlier this year 2022. She stated that the doctor estimated she would have 5 years left. This was painful news for me. As the oldest son, I had to hold it together, but it has not been easy.
We have been doing our best to hold ourselves together emotionally as well as financially. Because my mother only receives disability, her funds are limited. We have been putting together what we can in order to pay rent and keep food on the tablet. I recently was payed off from a new job along with 2/3 of the company after only having been there for 6 weeks. It took nearly 3 months to secure another job with decent pay. The 3 months I endured without way caused a big problem with. Not being able to hold up my end of the bills.
Because of the increase in power bills, rent and lack of funds, we are in the process of moving back in with my grandmother. I love my grandmother and am grateful to even have an option of another home, but the space is limited and not suitable for 5 people. We aren’t sure why but our power bill has been 3x the state average. I called the local Power company and asked what could be the cause and how to reduce it to which they stated we should just not use the Ac and Heating in the home. Because my mother is receiving hospice care, this simply is not an option, all of the medications, chemo, etc have caused her to lose significant weight, leaving her at nearly 80 lbs. because of this she is very easily too hot or too cold.
To keep things simple. I want to put my mother in a home that she can call her own. I’m willing to pay the mortgage and bills all on my own, but because I only just started my new job, I don’t have much saved nor the amount of time with my job that would make lenders want to approve me. She also has significant medical bills that take away from the already limited funds she receives.
I need help with securing a down payment for a home. I’m hoping to buy a house that can support 3 of us, at least my mother and brother. They are my major concern. I’m looking to find a house with hopefully a fenced off back
yard for the 3 dogs we own. I want to have a certified dietician/nutritionist that can come and work with us on helping my mother fight this battle with a healthy means rather than chugging pills and chemo.
Please, if you can. I would be beyond grateful if you could help me to help my mother and younger brother. I don’t want her to have to be cramped up or constantly moving home to home with her condition. If you aren’t able to help, I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to hear just a portion of my mothers story, if you could share this with others, it would be most appreciated, thank you for listening.
We have 3 beautiful dogs, this is her baby Sumoo.
