Hi! Welcome. I’d like to tell you a little about my best friend.
Anyone who has met Kjersti knows what a bright, bubbly, high-spirited, & full of energy kind of person she is. She is a beautiful mother of 3 young children whom she adores (August, Bode, & Svea) and a great wife to Kevin. Kjersti is one of those friends who is fiercely protective of the ones she loves and yet kind & generous to so many strangers. She makes friends wherever she goes and brings quirky humor into tough moments. She is a creative genius who is always making new art in her home or upcycling some piece of junk into the coolest thing. Kjersti has always had a passion for photography and has turned it into her full time job. She photographs babies and young families and has made some amazing friends from it. She throws herself into so many different passions and always comes out with new creations. She is a friend you want to walk through life as it will never be boring.
After Kjersti discovered that she carries the BRCA1 & MUTYH gene, she quickly and bravely decided she is going to do what it takes for her to live a long, full life with her amazing family. She scheduled a hysterectomy & mastectomy in the years of 2021/2022. After months of recovery and care, she was back on her feet with all the energy and life knowing she had done what she could to prevent cancer. Her odds after surgery dropped from an 87% chance to getting breast cancer to less than 1%.
In the Spring of 2024, Kjersti discovered a lump in her armpit tissue. She followed the advice of her mom Cindy and immediately scheduled an appointment to have it looked at. After taking an ultrasound and biopsy of the area, the doctor called with devastating news. Kjersti had metastatic breast cancer and needed to take swift action. Kjersti met with oncologists and thankfully had a care team already in place that she could trust. She scheduled surgery on 8/13/24 and the doctors removed 8 lymph nodes with only 1 testing positive for cancer. Kjersti has since then had a few minor ups and downs but even when crying she is still smiling. This girl is not going down easy.
When told after surgery that Kjersti will have to do chemotherapy instead of radiation, Kjersti decided to bravely take the course of action needed to give her the best chance at kicking cancer’s butt. She is embracing the fact of likely losing her hair and having to wear wigs (hopefully hot pink) and find cute ways to cover her head. She has chosen not to fear what is ahead but to face it head on (hairless or not). Kjersti is a fighter, one who won’t stop swinging those punches for her kids & her beloved husband Kevin, and one who knows that God is not done writing her story yet. She will see her testimony shine brighter through this trial and knows that chemo will give her the best odds of killing the cancer to live a full life.
It is our turn now to show the Kronstedt family our love and care that they have shown us throughout the years of knowing both Kevin & Kjersti. These months ahead with Kjersti in chemo are not going to be easy. They will need help at home, with food, helping with kids’ schedules, with medical bills, and surviving on one income as Kjersti will take time off work. Any financial blessing to this account goes directly to helping the Kronstedt Family balance these tough days ahead. Let’s take away the financial worry so Kjersti can focus on eating right, her rest & recovery, and being present in their kids lives. She is a wonderful God-fearing woman whose family has been hit hard the last few years with medical expenses and doctors appointments. Any monetary gift would be such a blessing to them. Thanks for your prayers and consideration.
