Hello, my name is Ed, and my 37 lbs Micro-Pit, Hanu, is in desperate need of a double hip surgery, due to a bone disease called “Legg-Calve-Perthes”, and he doesn’t have balls at the tops of his femurs!

This is a disease usually found in humans.

Hanu came to me at 9 months old, and I immediately noticed something wrong with his gate. (How he walks) He was unstable and unable to keep his balance. After a $4,000.00 visit to the vet, the vet told me, at some point, preferably sooner rather than later, Hanu is going to need surgery. However, the vet also informed me, that it’s not a cheap surgery. Roughly $8,000.00 per hip! Keep in mind, this was just at the beginning of the pandemic, so with no income coming in, I couldn’t afford to give him the surgery he needed.

However, as a therapeutic sports massage therapist, I was able to rehab the muscles of the hips, to help hold his legs in place, and stop falling out of socket, and ultimately, hold off on this expensive surgery, for a few years.

Hanu is just about to turn 3, on Oct 14th, and his vet has informed me, that I can no longer hold off on his surgery any longer. So for his 3rd birthday, I would really love to give him what he really needs the most. New hips!

At the moment, his hips swell after just 2 minutes of playing, and he becomes overwhelmed with pain. Crying with every movement. It’s heart wrenching to hear and even more so, when he looks to me for help, and there is literal nothing I can do! He just sits or lays in the same spot all day and night whimpering!

I can’t even pick him up to take him outside, without him letting out an ear piercing cry! His on some anti-inflammatory and a pain killer that do help, but that’s only a stop gap measure.

So with my business still not fully recover from the pandemic, and the credit card interest rates being what they are, I have no other choice than to ask for help!

One last thing, I often get asked how I came up with his name? Most think is the Hawaiian word for Turtle, but that’s not it.

His name HANU, is short for HANUMAN. A Hindu God, who is half monkey, and half man. This deity is the God of courage, strength and wind.

Which basically describes Hanu’s personality!

Courage - Because for 9 months of his life, no one helped him, and he didn’t let that diminish his love for life!

Strength - Because his upper body is built like a bodybuilder, with a nice trimmed waist line! The perfect V shape!

Wind - Because he snores like Thunder!
