This is my father, Manuel Vasquez, a 53 year old man who has dedicated his life to serving his community, as a teacher for over 20 years and currently as a pastor for over 10 years in Honduras his native country.
Let me tell you a bit about the journey he’s been through this past year:
- Oct 24- Started visiting doctors to treat a persistent cough, after many doctors saw some abnormal lesions on a chest CT scan.
- Nov 24- Diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, begins immunotherapy treatment (1 cycle)
- Dec 24- hospitalized for apparent infection; diagnosis is doubted due to swollen lymph nodes atypical to the disease.
- Jan 25- Diagnosed with Metastatic Prostate Cancer; Starts chemotherapy treatment (6 cycles) and hormonal blockade
- May 25- After completing the treatment disease progression is detected despite showing good results in prostate related tests. A different disease is suspected.
- Jul 25- In the United States the other diseases are ruled out and he is diagnosed with telangiectatic osteosarcoma and a treatment not available in our native country is recommended.
It’s been nine months of pain, fever, stomach struggles, and weight loss—but through it all, the Lord has continued to uphold my father in his battle.
What do we need?
Treatments anywhere in the world are already expensive, this particular one requires 6 weeks of hospitalization over the course of 6 months.
With the support of many brothers and friends, by faith we were able to reach this country and start the treatment in the Methodist Hospital of Houston, Texas. We trust and leave in the hands of the Lord the results.
How can you help?

Este es mi padre, Manuel Vásquez, un hombre de 53 años que ha dedicado su vida a servir a su comunidad, como maestro por más de 20 años y actualmente como pastor por más de 10 años en Honduras su país natal.
Quiero contarte un poco sobre la dura prueba que le ha tocado vivir durante el ultimo año:
- Oct 24- Inicio de visitas a médicos para tratar una tos persistente, luego de muchos médicos se ven unas lesiones anormales en una tomografía de tórax.
- Nov 24- Diagnosticado con Mieloma Múltiple, Inicia tratamiento de inmunoterapia (1 ciclo)
- Dic 24- Hospitalizado por aparente infección; Se duda del diagnóstico por ganglios inflamados atípicos a la enfermedad.
- Ene 25- Diagnosticado con Cancer de Próstata Metastatico; Inicia tratamiento de Quimioterapia (6 ciclos) y bloqueo hormonal
- May 25- Después de completar el tratamiento se detecta avance de la enfermedad a pesar de salir bien en exámenes relacionados con la próstata. Se sospecha de otra enfermad diferente.
- Jul 25- En Estados Unidos se descartan las otras enfermedades y se le diagnostica osteósarcoma telangiectásico; se recomienda un tratamiento no disponible en nuestro país natal.
Después de nueve meses de dolores, fiebre, problemas estomacales, perdida de peso el Señor sigue sosteniendo a mi padre en su lucha.
¿Que necesitamos?
Los tratamientos en cualquier parte del mundo son caros, este en particular requiere 6 semanas de hospitalización en el transcurso de 6 meses.
Con el apoyo de muchos hermanos y amigos, Por fe logramos llegar hasta este país e iniciar el tratamiento en el Hospital Metodista de Houston, Texas. Confiamos y dejamos en las manos del Señor los resultados.
¿Como puedes ayudar?
