Tragedy unfortunately has struck our family hard. My nephew Dakota and his wife Leslie had their beautiful daughter, Stella Dawn at 27 weeks by emergency c-section. Leslie began having pain and was rushed to the hospital where we found that her placenta had ruptured. Doctors and nurses fought hard to save Stella, but her tiny little body couldn’t handle it. Stella passed away and shortly after Leslie crashed. Leslie was immediately rushed back into surgery, only to find out she was hemorrhaging out. They unfortunately had to do a partial hysterectomy on her tiny 20 year old body. She had lost so much blood they had to do mass transfusions and sent platelets in from Wichita for her. 7.5 hours later she was able to come off the surgical table. They were able to extubate her and take her to ICU. Leslie was partially alert and seemed to be out of the woods until 4:30 this morning. She quickly became unresponsive. Multiple doctors were in her room working on her placing multiple central lines. Unfortunately Leslie’s left lung is 3/4 of the way shut down and her kidneys have completely stopped working. They have had to intubate her and she is on life support. They continue to have to give her transfusions with platelets and will start on dialysis later today.
