Support Madeline's Medical Journey

Donation protected
This is our 24 year old niece, Madeline England. She has been going through some major medical issues for several months and there still has been no definite diagnosis. She is unable to work, and it is unclear how long this will continue. Madeline is currently living with her mom in Grundy Center as she is unable to be alone for very long. In addition to her apartment lease, she also has a car payment, insurance and other monthly expenses. Medical bills are starting to come in. All of this weighs
heavily on Madeline as she is fiercely independent and does not like to ask for help. If you are so inclined, please
donate, share this post, and/or say a prayer. Madeline appreciates any help!
Thank you,
Madeline's Aunts - Shannon and Angela

Here is a Facebook post that Madeline's mom shared a few weeks ago that describes what she is going
through:
This girl right here is so brave!
Very long story short -
About 8 weeks ago, Madeline was showing some concerning behaviors. These behaviors were thought to be
mental health symptoms. At the time, she was living with her boyfriend and a roommate. She was unable to
work, and her behaviors were disruptive to those around her. I went to Des Moines to help out, and she came
to our house a couple of times. Four weeks ago, we were out of town, and Madeline was having a particularly
difficult time. My sisters went to Des Moines to get her and stayed with her until we got home. She has been at
our house ever since.
Madeline had not been taking her medications as she said she was. We were making sure that she took all of
her meds as they were prescribed. We could see a change in her behaviors, but she has also been very
confused since the beginning and this has not changed.
She had a physical scheduled two weeks ago. Dr. Hefner ordered an MRI, but it couldn't be scheduled until this
past Wednesday, in Grundy. The MRI showed that she has had 5 strokes. She was hospitalized at Allen the
day of the MRI. Once she got to Allen, she had a CT scan. On Thursday morning, she had a head MRI with
contrast and an echocardiogram. After these tests, there were questions about whether she had actually had
strokes or if she possibly has an autoimmune disease or something else. Friday, she had a cervical MRI with
contrast and then a lumbar puncture. The results of the lumbar puncture could take up to a week to come back.
They did release her from the hospital on Friday. Next week, there will be more tests and doctor appointments.
Hopefully, we will have a definite answer soon.
Through all of this, Madeline has had a tremendous support system in her boyfriend, roommate, co-workers,
her wonderful therapist, and her family! Please send prayers, good vibes, and thoughts as we get this figured
out. Thank you
