Kylah's Song
Anyone who has ever met Kylah, even once, knows how special of a person she was. Even those she had met briefly she gifted hilarious, vivacious memories and a strong impression because she was such a unique soul. She was a constant reminder that comfort zones are meant to be broken, and love and laughter are meant to be shared.
Kylah was an extremely loving sister. Its hard to describe without tearing up because she loved so passionately and celebrated people she loved with such enthusiasm. Although I have been writing songs and singing since I can remember, I was often shy to share this passion with other people. Kylah seemed to always know I had this secret passion and encouraged it within me before I was even able to fully acknowledge it within myself. From her compliments of my quiet singing, convincing me to get/gifting me with ukuleles (when the first one she got me got stolen from the street she insisted I made a homeless person's dreams come true and immediately got me a new one). Kylah was one of the first people I shared my original song recordings with and her reaction and love for my music I will always cherish. She listened attentively and cried with joy, making sure I backed them up properly so I'd never lose them.
I feel in my soul as long as I am on Earth it is my job to honor my sister and this year I am doing so with a song I wrote to commemorate our special relationship and the love we shared as sisters. In true Kylah fashion, she is giving even after she has departed this Earth as she is holding me accountable to my life's purpose. Its very easy to allow doubt and insecurities to prevent me from sharing and finishing my songs, but this one is different. I feel obligated to share this one as I feel she is counting on me to do so. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or like giving up, I can feel her supporting me and telling me I have to do this for her and for myself.
I am asking, if you are able, to help support this song I wrote for Kylah. In honoring my sister and our relationship I hope this song will help anyone who is grieving the loss of special relationships in their life. Kylah had a dream to provide artists with free housing because she was so passionate about the arts and acknowledged the difficulties emerging artists faced. In this project I will be using these funds to support artists who are helping me bring this song to life. In addition, I will be giving 10 percent of the donations to a charity I know Kylah would support.
Kylah was always wildly generous, with her many talents, charisma, brilliance and beauty, whether she was running a marathon or coming up with a world class comedic routine, she never seemed to compete but rather inspired people to achieve these things within themselves and alongside one another. If you are able, I invite you to support this project with the same generosity Kylah embodied. If you are not in a position to contribute financially, know that Kylah loves and supports you and your dreams no matter what.
Thank you so much for your time and consideration.
Much Love,
Kelsey
