Kiwi Stevens (Kirk) Nicholson Cancer treatments

Hello name is Tricia Highmoor. Like many of you I have been a dear friend of Kiwi’s for many years. Now our friend, Kiwi Stevens, has been diagnosed with stage 4 Squamous cell carcinoma in her sinus cavity - an aggressive and rare cancer. Doctors are recommending many weeks of intensive chemotherapy and radiation in hopes of shrinking the tumour and sparing her from a life-altering total rhinectomy and maxillectomy facial surgery that would take years to recover from.

This treatment is urgent, but it comes with a heavy toll. As Kiwi begins chemotherapy and radiation, she will no longer be able to work. The ongoing costs of traveling to countless medical appointments, along with her living expenses and in-home care, are overwhelming, far more than she can manage alone.

If you know Kiwi, you also know the light that she brings into every room. She has the talent and vision to take a boring space and turn it into an oasis. Her love of design and entertaining was well known and envied by many. She is more than just a cancer patient, she is someone that I am proud to call friend.

She is a vibrant, sassy and sarcastic member of Calgary and Vancouver’s LGBTQ+ communities. Loud and proud, she has never shied away from being herself, through difficult times, the loss of loved ones, and scrutiny from others. Love her or hate her, she has always been a force to be reckoned with. Often outspoken and not everyone’s cup of tea, she is fiercely supportive of those around her. Kiwi has been deeply involved in countless charities like Mr. and Mrs. Gay, in Calgary and Vancouver, the Imperial court systems of Canada, and fundraisers with her beloved mother’s by immaculate conception, Ms. Linda Huston and Ms. Deana Zacharias. Kiwi was always ready to lend a wig, a dress, or heartfelt words of encouragement to anyone in need. She was there to lift others up when the need arose and now it’s our turn to lift her. As her friend, I’m turning to you, her friends and family, to help lift her from this difficult chapter in her life. Together we can stand beside her in this fight and give her the strength, care, and support she needs to move forward.

Your support, whether through a donation or by sharing this page, will help her focus on her treatments and healing without the crushing weight of financial worry. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings her one step closer to comfort, hope, and recovery.

Thank you for standing with her in this fight. ❤️
