On the morning of March 15, 2017 my brother Ray and his wife Miriam woke up to their neighbor screaming and banging frantically on their door. The apartment directly across from them was on fire and it quickly spread throughout the building. The hallway was filled with thick black smoke and they barely found their way to the fire exit. Thankfully, they made it out alive.
We are very grateful they made it out alive thanks to their neighbor who risked his own life. Unfortunately, they lost everything and to make matters worse they did not have renters insurance. The building was destroyed and has been condemned. What remains now is the reality that they are displaced from their home with only the clothes on their backs.
My brother is a Navy Veteran and a proud Yonkers police office. He has a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off his back even in the worst of times. Any and all support is greatly appreciated. All donations will be used to help get them back on their feet. Please spread the word!
