Update about miss Kitty Sept. 2025...
Kitty has more energy and bulk to her. She is off prescription food but still on sensitive diet plan. She is loving the run and chase and fun most days. Sometimes she gets some upset and is watched carefully as we do have medications that are needed at times.
As we push to balance the specialty food and treats with the vet bills it is getting better but still have $9000 to go. If you are able to help us get those balances down, we would greatly appreciate it. Month to month is what we continue to do. And Christmas for the kiddos will be a big bow on Kitty as the gift for all of us this year (maybe stocking staffers for the kids too).
It's the season for everyone so we understand if you can't help financially either. Please feel free to share instead. Thank you.
Update on Kitty June 2025...
Kitty has completed 4 weeks of antibiotic and b12 injections today! She's gained another 0.7 pounds and is up to 42.4! Only 7 more pounds to go. Next steps are continued prescription food, daily pre and probiotic, and increase amount of food to lessen frequency to 3 times a day.
Thank you to everyone who has supported Kitty and us through this long process of recovery. The bills still need to be paid and the specialty food purchased. We are sacrificing summer fun and travels for a couple years and when we play and snuggle Kitty, it is worth it!
Back in May ... well we arent out of the woods yet unfortunately. Miss Kitty as i call her has been struggling to maintain weight and have bowel movements. We've been back the the VEG twice and heading to regular vet today May 13. We can't afford a specialist and need to rely on her current medical teams advice. There were risks with the surgeries of course but we hope and pray she can still get through this bowel system adjustment. You're help is greatly appreciated. Thank you all who have helped already.
Financial hardship for the life of a beloved pet makes it even harder to ask for help but in early March our youngest dog, Kitty, started throwing up repeatedly. She became lethargic and would stare off. She is the 5th dog in my life and never have I had one get so sick. As it was a weekend we had to go to Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) Chandler. They were patient and compassionate and we agreed to get all the bloodwork and xrays done to find out what was wrong. So after so many years being dog owners and Kitty almost 2 years old, we had a dog who had swallowed something blocking her small intestine. We would do all we could and took out the pet credit to have surgery done. She is worth it but the cost is hitting hard. 3 weeks after the surgery she got ill again. There was something going on and we went back to VEG chandler. Tears. So many tears. If there was another issue we did not have another $12,000 we could afford in credit debt or from our accounts. Terrified we did one more care affirm credit for another $2700 to have her stay the night and get tests done in more detail. We cried at home knowing we couldn't afford another surgery. That the debt was going to effect us for years every month. And what this might mean for being able to keep Kitty with us. The next day when I returned to VEG Chandler the vet told me there was a problem in the intestine and they'd need to go in again. I just cried, pet Kitty, and the vet then told me they talked to management and would do the second surgery for free as well as recovery. I am teary just typing this. They did the surgery that afternoon april 21st. We got to bring her home the next day. Granted she has to be on prescription food now and specific prebiotic but she is with us thanks to them. Kitty is now able to get up on the cpuch with us and definitely has her energy back. She is eating great and still working on gaining back 10 pounds she lost. As we adjust to a new budget with over $500 a month going toward the bills, we are hoping to get support to at least pay off part of them sooner and maintain her special diet for 6 months while she continues her recovery. Thank you for considering to help us help Kitty.
