Kitty's first Gender Affirming Surgery

Hey!

My name is Kitty I'm a 31 year old nonbinary Aboriginal disabled person. I'm a full time performing artist & advocate. I'm passionate about trans rights & health care and after a few years I've decided to take the plunge on my first gender Affirming Surgery.

What am I getting?

Facial masculine shaping.

I won't go into the depths of my dysphoria and trauma around body image as an nonbinary person but I will say have talked this through with my psychologist for the past 12 months. With intense therapy, introspection & consolsentation with my medical team and family this is what I've decided is the best first step for my medical journey.

Basically what's going to happen is my surgeon is gonna make some small punctures under my chin around my neck and jowls and is going to flood the area with a mix to liquefy the fat deposits.

Then my surgeon is going to move the liquid fat around my jaw to create a more masculine shape (think square ish as traditionally masculine) and remove any excess liquid. This will help define my neck and jaw.

Recovery is only a few weeks but results can take 3 to 6 months to fully settle.

So why am I asking you to donate?

Firstly because gender Affirming care no matter how needed to combat body dysmorphia is not covered under Medicare. I am an artist who works hard but in this cost of living crises and with less work available after the pandemic (coupled with horrible pay structures for artists that have not increased in many years) gender Affirming Surgery is very expensive.

So what does my goal cover?

The Surgery itself is $4500 and the other $500 is to cover the loss of work while I am in recovery.
