Kitty Rescue in Warwick NY!
Donation protected
The fuzzy picture above is part of my beginnings in the cat rescue world. I was lucky enough to find and volunteer with Brooklyn Animal Action, a remarkable local cat rescue organization, while living in the city. I was involved in trapping projects, helping with recovery, socializing feral kitties and fostering. Brooklyn Animal Action enabled me to do this work, a meaningful part of my life.
I left the city in 2021, relocating to Warwick, New York, a small country community. Over this past year, I have met folks involved with local cat rescue, particularly Trap-Neuter-Release projects. These projects are essential. Cats are domestic animals who should not be living outside. Besides the terrible hardship of this life for a cat, they present a threat to other species such as birds and small mammals. The most effective way to decrease these feral cat populations is Trap-Neuter-Release programs.
I have been lucky enough to cross paths with an Animal Care and Control officer who has lived in this community for many years. Her passion for and commitment to animals is inspiring.
Between my friend's extensive experience with TNR projects and my connection to Brooklyn Animal Action for support with potential adoptions, we are embarking on our own to work on TNR projects in this area.
To sustain these projects, we need funds. Each trapped kitty needs spay, vaccines, and flea/tick treatment services for about $45. All feral cats will be released in these projects, but any friendly cats will be held and hopefully adopted. These kitties will need a bit more veterinary care. We would also like to be able to support their fosters with food and other necessary supplies.
Any monetary contribution to our efforts will be enormously appreciated. One spayed kitty prevents hundreds of others from suffering. We are so excited to get these projects going and are forever grateful for any help along the way.
Best,
Cindy
