Kittens in Need of Eyelid Surgeries

These five kitties had a euthanasia date set due to their genetically irregular eyelids, also known as Eyelid Agenesis. In situations like this, it is not always possible for shelters to afford to care for the animals. We maintain strong partnerships with our local shelters so, when an at risk animal goes into their care, we can work together. A volunteer at the shelter took the next step and reached out to us.

Karma Cat + Zen Dog Rescue Society has always tried to be there for those who need us most, and these kittens are no exception. We knew we had to rescue them. We took them to their first medical exam this week and it turns out all five kittens, now named Mercer, Essex, Camden, Hudson, and Somerset, will need reconstructive eyelid surgery. If left untreated, these babies will continue to suffer from a variety of issues including exposed corneas, incomplete blinking, irritation, scarring and, over time, an increased risk of vision loss. If these surgeries sound expensive, it’s because they are. We need to raise $5,000 to offset the cost of their surgeries.

For now, they are being wonderfully cared for by one of our volunteers through our foster program. They are sweet and snuggly and they matter. Please donate towards their medical expenses and care today.
