It saddens me to say that on the 10 freeway, going 80 mph, a green Honda Accord (2002 maybe) opened their window and threw a 5-week old white kitten out of the car like a piece of garbage! Luckily for this little guy, there were two Angels that saw this disgusting, less than human act and reacted quickly! They risked their own safety, scooped him up, and rushed him to the VCA Desert Animal Hospital so he could get emergency treatment. The VCA there was not much help, rather they were going to euthanize him. After much protest, our friends got him out of that hospital immediately and called us to help. We drove out there and brought him back to LA and submitted him into the 24-hour care of the VCA Emergency Clinic where they cared and treated him for damages. AMAZINGLY, he had no broken bones or internal bleeding! He had a few scrapes on his body and chin but wasn't too physically damaged from the fall. They did however reveal that he had an infection of the eye which was not looked after and ultimately caused him blindness in the one eye. This eye will ultimately have to be removed when he gets to be full-grown as it will turn cancerous if not. We have had him on formula 4x/day, two kinds of antibiotics 3x/day, and eye drops for the past two weeks, and we are happy to report that he is doing great! He was on Beuprenorphin for the pain at the start but hasn't needed too much of that thankfully. Between the vet bills, antibiotics, food, and everything else, we are coming out of pocket, $1500, and during an unforgiving time in our professions. The surgery for the removal of his eye that he will have to undergo is estimated to cost $2500 after his optometrist gave us a $1000 discount (thank you )! During these uncertain times, these costs are difficult to take on at the moment as we are unemployed due to COVID 19. We will foster and care for him until we find a suitable and loving family to adopt him. That said, we would prefer him to be adopted by someone we know so we can ensure is ultimate care. Please contact us directly if you or you know of anyone in mind! We already have two wonderful cats and aren't sure we can take on a third, however, we will if we have to! We are asking you, the reader, for assistance with his medical bills, supplies, and his future surgery costs. We are happy to supply you with medical documentation, invoices, receipts, and estimates for proof of expenses if need be, or if you have any other questions, please ask! This little guy is lucky to be alive and we are so happy to have him here with us! With your help, we can get him the care he needs for a long and happy life! P.S. we have appropriately named him Mr. Mad Max Huggins! ❤️Organizer and beneficiary
