Kitten Shower!
UPDATE: We exceeded
our goal so I’ve increased it to $5,000. That means we will do everything below times 2! We’ll support 2 kennels and extra supplies. Thank you!
Those of you that know me, know that animals are my people. I’ve been involved with the cat foster community in Austin for last 2.5 years. I volunteer closely with the Austin Humane Society and they are a remarkable organization. They continue to help keep Austin the largest no-kill city in the US. Spring is here and that means it's also Kitten Season!
Please consider helping me support their Kitten Shower and raise $2,021 in honor of 2021! $1,500 sponsors a kennel year round and all the cats/kittens/litters that pass through it. The extra funds will go towards kitten supplies like heating pads, needles, medicines, bottles and food. Below is a short story of a personal experience I had with the Humane Society if you'd like to read it. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
One of my stories: I recently had two fosters that were 5 week old sisters, Pita and Baguette. They were found in a different town on a street and brought to a kill shelter. The Humane Society actively rescues animals not only from the streets but other kill shelters. Shortly after coming home with me, Pita was diagnosed with Feline Panleukopenia. It has a 90% mortality rate and is extremely contagious. Sweet Pita and her sister had to return to the shelter for a week to be isolated and treated. I didn’t think Pita would survive it, especially being a neonatal kitten. The Humane Society gave her amazing medical care and she recovered! Baguette never got the virus either! Both kittens returned to me as fosters to get strong again and I found them their forever home as a pair. They are now living their best life together in a loving home! Cats most definitely have 9 lives.
