Kitten Rescued from Philly Bridge
Donation protected
On a hot Wednesday afternoon 7/23/25 at 1:05pm in Philadelphia, I was driving across the George C. Platt Memorial Bridge when I noticed what looked like a struggling animal in the middle of the slow lane. At first, I thought it was a squirrel, but as I got closer, I saw a pair of tiny, pointed ears—it was a kitten, terrified and TOSSED alone in the middle of heavy traffic. I quickly stopped my car, and with the help of a kind box truck driver, we managed to stop all bridge traffic & rescue the kitten from the dangerous hot roadway. The little one was in pure shock, weighing just 11 ounces, and I wrapped him in my T-shirt to keep him safe.
Thanks to the support of my South Philadelphia neighborhood—friends at McCusker Tavern, Dads Stuffings, and Jay’s Pet Shoppe—the kitten began to recover. By Friday, he was nursing well, walking, playing, and even went pee today Friday he’s 12.2 ounces now The kitten has now found a loving forever home with a family experienced in caring for animals, but there are still important expenses ahead. We’re raising funds to cover upcoming medical needs, including vaccinations, neutering, and a full exam at Emancipet, a local nonprofit clinic offering affordable walk in clinic care. We also hope to provide a RoboCat litter box to help the new family, who already have two cats, welcome their newest member with ease.
Any funds raised beyond our immediate needs will be donated directly to Emancipet, supporting their mission to provide low-cost veterinary care to pets in need throughout Philadelphia & the USA . Your support will help this rescued kitten thrive and give back to an organization making a real difference in our community.
