The students of Umass Amherst have set up a Go Fund Me page to raise funds to help offset neonatal medical care for "Kit", a Holsteiner filly born prematurely at UMass Hadley Farm.

Kit's dam, Rococo, went into preterm labor on Day 309 (normal horse gestation averages 335-445 days). Thanks to quick action by University faculty and staff, Rococo was put on several medications to postpone labor. However, on Day 322, Rococo knew her little filly needed to come out! She was successfully delivered at the farm without any delivery complications, and then both mom and baby were transported to Tufts Large Animal Hospital due to the foal's small size (just 61 lbs!) so that "Kit" could receive speciality neonatal care.
