KitKat Needs Medical Care and a Good Home!
Donation protected
Hey Everyone! We live in Montgomery Village, Maryland. We have a stray kitty in our bathroom, and we could really use **your help** getting his medical bills paid!
Kit Kat arrived at our doorstep (literally) on Saturday, February 3rd, 2024. Despite being with us only a couple of days, KitKat already has a backstory. Years ago, I had already decided that our next cat would be named "KitKat," as my husband had already named the first two after book characters, and I wanted to choose the next name. So, KitKat it was. Earlier that day, I had been part of a group meditation and I chose to make mine about manifesting. Well, one of the things I envisioned was a new home for us and our current furbabies, and at that new home, I hoped for many things, including...fostering cats! Literally a few hours later, KitKat was meowing at the bottom of our stairs as Justin was walking by, and he brought KitKat right inside.
KitKat needs medical care. His left paw was injured and has some kind of older icky infection. After the vet examined his wound, it was determined that KitKat was bitten by another animal, as two tooth marks are clearly visible. That means that he needs further care to continue to reduce infection, manage his pain, fix up his paw, and prevent an amputation. Because KitKat was bitten by an unknown animal, it is possible that he may have rabies, which would be fatal, but we try not to think about that. Right now, KitKat is making the best out of his quarantine. Justin and I visit with him every day, and his fur cousins talk to him through the bathroom door.
If you know me, then you know the *old version* of me would rather do *just about anything than ask for help.* The new version of me recognizes the power of community and that we are all here in this crazy life together. While my husband and I both love animals and have the heart and time to help, these surprise medical bills have been a little bit daunting. We *could* do it all on our own, but we have decided that we *prefer* not to. We appreciate knowing we are not alone and that one way or another, we are all connected out there. If you could please help us with any amount that is in your heart right now, it would mean a great deal to us. Thanks for reading! P.S. We promise that any donations received in excess of our amount will be given directly to the Montgomery County Human Society.
