We are Aliesje King and Whitney Shervey: a team of Farmers & Friends in search of experience learning more about international Food Justice and Seed Sovereignty in the heart of India. We aspire to work as interns through a seed saving collective on an Forest Farm. We are women farmers seeking to learn from other women farmers across the globe, and foster change for future generations.
Whitney's interest in growing things developed through her nearly 15 years of being a cook. She co-created Kith and Kin Farms as she transitioned from being a full-time cook to a part-time farmer and full-time student. She returned to school to study horticulture which evolved into a passion for Agro-Forestry. Currently she is pursuing a degree in Natural Resources, working to better understand how to be a restorationist, farmer, and Food Justice advocate.
For the past 6 years Aliesje dedicated her time and energy to developing and implementing School Garden Programs through Portland Earth Art And Agriculture Project. After many years of program development and management as well as full time teaching and learning with K-8 students and school families she is now aiming to expand her understanding of Food Justice through Seed Saving, Ecological-Agriculture and International Community Building.

As a farming team Whitney and Aliesje are interested in better understanding how to run a sustainable farm to table operation. We plan to examine how the economical, ecological and community aspects of running a seed saving collective. Our desire is to take what we have learned back to our community in the United States, and help grow seeds of positive change in our home country.
