Kisumba Foundation 2016 Fundraiser

We are a small grassroots community in the Ottawa/Gatineau/Aylmer area that host an annual fundraising drive to send about $3000 to the Kisumba Foundation just outside Kampala, Uganda. This is a not for profit medical based clinic that helps people of all ages in their community with physical and mental challenges.
My mum's brother, Brian Kavanagh has lived near this Ugandan community for over 60 years. The foundation is named for one of his friends David Kisumba, an orthopaedic surgeon who was instrumental in supporting people of all abilities in that area. Dr. Kisumba passed away in 1979. Ten years later, his sister Nora started to build the dream of a clinic.
My mum's other brother Donal Kavanagh lives in Aylmer QC, and has been the key fundraiser for over 20 years, tapping into his network of friends in the Ottawa/Irish community; phoning or driving to pick up any donations.
Before my mum passed away in 1994, she was able to visit Uganda and see these beginning efforts in person. This Kavanagh family showed us early on in life the importance of "Giving Back" and "Paying it Forward".
Over the past six years, I've been personally supporting my uncle's fundraising efforts as a future succession plan. This year he's faced his own tough challenges with his wife Celie who recently passed away, and his own health challenges. We're helping him this year to ensure funds get to the Kisumba Foundation, and do some strategic planning for future years on the best way to continue to support these efforts.
We would like to send any funds raised by mid-March 2016. Every single dollar donated will go to the foundation for their operational costs. We receive a detailed report every year from Florence Buyondo (the administrator) that highlights what the funds are used for. We have letters from those that care for people, as well as patients, that support how the funds are helping them personally. Each year the clinic implements more sustainable activities to keep the clinic running.
