Hi, I am Kindall Cox. Most of you will probably know me, If you don’t you probably know my mom! I am not sure where to even start with all of this but..
This account is for my mom Kisty Cox.
Since today my mom publicly shared what’s going on in her life, I’ve had a couple people reach out to me for something like this, so I thought I would make something for her!
if you are here you probably know my mom, or you may not so I will share some things about her.
My mom is 54 years old, she has devoted her life to taking care of others as a hospice/home health nurse. She has the biggest heart, and cares so deeply for the families she sees and helps everyday. My mom is a first time grandma to a my 4 year old son, and 5 month old daughter, and also just recently bought a home of her own. She has worked very hard to be where she is now. Showing her strength every step of the way.
The last couple of weeks for her, myself, her friends and family has been a whirlwind of events and emotions.
June 12 she had a CT scan showing 2 extremely large masses on each of her ovaries.. the following Monday she was set up for a sonogram, blood work, and an MRI for Wednesday. She was taken off work almost 3 weeks ago without pay, she has elevated cancer markers, and drs have pointed to Ovarian Cancer.
we saw her surgeon/oncologist Thursday June 22nd, and they are suppose to be reaching out to her to set up surgery for a complete hysterectomy, and exploratory. until the biopsy from surgery is complete we won't know staging or if any metatastasis.
This will be a major surgery and she will be off 8 weeks atleast to heal from that. She was told they would cut up and down to open her up to be able to see everything. We will also be given a treatment plan if chemo or radiation is required.
So currently she is off work still in pain, and she just found out yesterday her job she loves is only protected for 12 weeks, with having short term disability and fmla.
She is unpaid right now until her surgeon is able to send in all of her disability and fmla paperwork. Then she will only receive 50% of pay for 12 weeks, while her job is “protected”.
‼️Here is an update as of 7/21/23- Kisty had her surgery on 7/14/23. She was scheduled for a full hysterectomy with exploratory. During surgery they ended up needing to take a portion of her small bowel, lymphnodes, and her appendix for them being abnormal. She was released on 7/20/23 and is home trying to heal from the large incision down her stomach. The dr spoke with Kisty and family letting them know the cancer is advanced, she can have chemo treatment but it will never be cured. We are all still waiting on pathology results to be able to tell us the origin of where the cancer actually started. Since more was taken Dr is unsure that it is ovarian, and for the staging, to be able to make a plan for chemo treatments. Kisty, her family, and friends have a long road ahead of them, but she is a FIGHTER. ‼️
‼️update 8/26/24 - my mom is currently hospitalized at St.Johns. She just had tubes with bags placed coming out of her back to drain her kidneys. The tubes from the kidneys to the bladder are blocked. She will be having an upper GI procedure tomorrow morning to check for any internal bleeds. She is losing blood somewhere and has had several transfusions.
chemo is not working - her lab results showed her cancer antigens had increased. She desperately needs to get to Mayo Clinic. They are requiring a 5,000 deposit due to not accepting her insurance, if you can PLEASE help us get her there! ‼️
If you can help her, please donate towards bills and medical treatment.
If you can’t donate, please just say some prayers for her, and our family we need all of those we can get!
with much love, Kindall! ❤️
