Help Kirsten Recover From a Car Accident

This past Tuesday, Kirsten was on her way to walk one of her dog buddies when her car was broadsided on the driver side and she ended up with a fractured pelvis, fractured scapula, and fractured clavicle. The pelvic and scapula fractures should heal without surgery, although slowly and quite painfully, since she is allergic to pain meds. A decision is still being made about whether or not she will undergo surgery for the clavicle.

Either way, as a self-employed dog walker, she will be out of work for- at the very least - a couple months. We are expecting at least six weeks of healing before physical therapy can start.

Kirsten is the kind of person who, when someone mentions they need to move, she asks what time she should show up, is the first to arrive and the last to leave. She is also resourceful and can figure out how to solve most problems, and will work on the task at hand until it’s not only done, but done to the best of her ability and satisfaction.

One thing she’s not great at? Asking for help.

But she’s found herself in a situation that will be difficult to trudge through on her own.

Thankfully, she has health insurance, but of course that won’t cover everything, and there are many unknowns we are dealing with at the moment.

We’ve set the goal a bit on the lower side of what I honestly think she might need, and that is only because Kirsten, in her typical humble way, asked me not to ask for more than that number.
