"On July 5th, I'll be lacing up my walking shoes for a 10-mile trek to raise vital funds for Kirkwood Hospice.

I'm doing this in loving memory of my dear friend Mary Margaret Delahunty who bravely battled cancer and passed away in December last year, just shy of her 62nd birthday.

Margaret and I were friends since childhood. Despite life taking us on different paths, we reconnected four years ago, and it felt like no time had passed. Our bond was as strong as ever, filled with laughter, shared memories, and unforgettable Christmas trips.

Sadly, in June 2024, Margaret was diagnosed with cancer. She endured six months of immense pain and trauma. Her incredible partner, Brian, cared for her at home, and in her final weeks, she received the most compassionate care from the amazing staff at Kirkwood Hospice.

Visiting Margaret at Kirkwood was heartbreaking, but the staff's warmth, kindness, and unwavering smiles, day or night, made a profound difference. This walk is my way of saying thank you for the incredible love and care they gave my dear friend.
