Kirk’s Medical Fund: Help Him Walk Again
Donation protected
Hi, everyone.
Those of you who know us, know Kirk. And those of you who know Kirk, know he’s the most loving, sweet, and goodest boy. Our first fur baby. On Saturday evening 5/10/2025, Kirk had a freak accident while we were out and came home to find him seriously injured at 12:30am. Kirk had tried to jump his doggy gate and with his momentum and weight he had gotten his left leg caught in between 2 tight panels of his 40inch high metal dog gate. He fought for what seems to be long hours to try to break free pulling, tugging, biting at the gate. During his fight he lost 3 teeth, fractured his left leg breaking through his skin, broke a toe, and injured his back legs. However, since we were gone out of town, he was left hanging for hours by his front left leg fighting to break free… While we are still waiting on xray results for his back legs, we know for sure of his front left leg fracture and broken toe and that he will require surgery. Initially the emergency vet made it out to seem that Kirk had lost his nerves in his leg and it was likely to not heal, resulting in amputation. We are so lucky and happy that our boy gets to keep his leg with this surgery and he can slowly go back to being himself again. These past few days have been so tough for our boy. Everyone knows Kirk to be independent and active, he loves to play with his toys and do things on his own. With his injuries, he requires us to be at every beck and call, he cannot walk. But soon enough, we will have our boy back to normal.
I type this today with so much sadness in my heart to ask for help with medical expenses for our good boy. Unfortunately, we do not have pet insurance. Kirk typically is so good and healthy, he rarely requires vet visits. The costs of his ER visit; follow up, pre-op, and surgery have already added up significantly. That’s not even predicting if he’s going to need further treatment on his back legs or follow ups after surgery. We do ask for help, and appreciate anything big or small. Anything to lighten our load of making sure Kirk is ok again so he’s no longer in pain.
Thank you all for taking the time to hear Kirk’s story and help out if you can. Please share.
