Kirk funeral expense fund

Hi, my name is Brianne and I am fundraising for the family of Kirk Soldrzynski; his loving partner Theresa Gent, his 14 year old son Landyon Gent, and his Mother Michelle Sicotte.

Early Tuesday morning, November 26th, 2024, started out as any other day at the Soldrzynski and Gent home.

Theresa was up helping Landyon get ready for another school day when the unthinkable happened, something was wrong with Kirk.

The call was made to 911 and Kirk was rushed to the Peter Lougheed Hospital, with his partner Theresa and his Mother Michelle following behind in the car. Landyon stayed home with the family dogs .

Theresa dropped Michelle off at the door to the hospital and frantically looked for a parking spot. Unable to find one, Theresa parked across the street at the mall (which she got a ticket for!) and rushed over.

By the time Theresa got to the emergency room, Michelle was in with her son, and a nurse showed Theresa to a ‘Family Waiting Room’.

It was then that Theresa learned that her partner of many years and the Father of her son, Kirk Soldrzynski, had died of a massive heart attack /combo stroke and diabetic acidic acidosis in the blood at just 43 years old.

He seemed so healthy before all this with no signs of any of this.

How would she tell their son Landyon??

Kirk Soldrzynski was a self-employed glass installer and general contractor delivering construction equipment who did not have life insurance.

Nor did he have mortgage insurance. And like many of us now a days, he was struggling with monthly expenses, getting behind a few months on bills. The family do not have extra savings at their disposal.

And as a matter of fact, Kirk’s work truck and trailer were stolen last week. The truck was returned by police a few days ago with significant damage, and the trailer is still missing. Unfortunately, there was no theft insurance on the vehicle.

Kirk and Theresa were desperately trying to figure out how to get caught up on their bills, pay for Kirk’s damaged truck and another trailer, and still manage Christmas for Landyon, only a few days before he unexpectedly passed away.

To make things even more difficult and stressful for the family, Theresa, who is only 41, has a very rare Neurological disease that mimics a brain tumour, AND is currently battling Stage 2 Esophageal Cancer.

She just finished her radiation treatments and is currently on home Chemotherapy.

Michelle, who also lives in the family home and only getting part time hours , has now lost the last surviving member of her immediate family, as Kirk’s sister passed away 10 years ago, and Kirk’s Father passed away last June.

Any money raised will go directly to Kirk’s cremation and then to help the family manage bills through the next few, very difficult months, including Christmas.

I know that times are extremely tough for all of us right now, but losing your life partner while struggling to battle Cancer is more than most people could handle.
