On February 5th, the home of our friend and coworker Kirk Gutierrez caught fire, completely destroying his basement and kitchen and leaving the home unlivable for an undetermined amount of time. In the meantime, Kirk, his girlfriend Farron and their kids are staying with friends and trying to make the best of a tough situation. While he waits for answers and the insurance to come through – he’s incurred a lot of out-of-pocket expenses. With the insurance deductible, unexpected immediate expenses, and loss of work for both Kirk and Farron, the bills can add up quickly. Kirk isn’t the type to ask for help, but as many of his friends can attest to – he’s the first to give help whenever needed. We’ve seen many people reach out and ask how to help him, but sometimes you don’t know exactly what you need in these types of situations until the second you need it. The stress, uncertainty and simply not having a place to call home right now can be unbearable and all we want is to lessen the burden placed on him and his family. We can see we are not alone. Many seem eager to help and we came to the conclusion that this would be the easiest way for everyone to come together. Again, Kirk’s not the type to ask for help and he hasn’t – so we are doing it for him (Forgive us, Kirk). Kirk is the General Manager at Massa’s Winghaven and the best boss to his employees. He is loved by employees and patrons alike and has been a Massa’s staple since we opened. If you’ve ever worked in the service industry, you know that your customers and coworkers can quickly become your family and that is exactly what Kirk is to us. And if you’ve ever worked in the service industry you also know that when one of us is down – we all come together as a community. So we are all rallying around our friend and if you’d like to join the rally – please feel free to contribute in any way you can! Thank you from the very bottom of our collective hearts!
