Kirk Family Medical Fund

On November 15, 2021 Robbie and Ellie Kirk welcomed their second son, Crue, into this world. Within days after Crue’s birth, they realized he was having some bowel issues and were told to go straight to the ER. After running multiple test and X-rays at the local hospital, Crue was rushed to Children’s Hospital in St. Louis where he was admitted to the NICU. After more testing at Children’s, it was determined that Crue was born with Hirschspungs disease, which involves missing nerve cells in the muscles of part or all of the large intestine (colon). Present at birth, it causes difficulty passing stool. Crue spent a week in the NICU and was released with at-home medical treatments such as irrigation and dialation in which Robbie and Ellie are to perform twice a day. The disease resulted in multiple trips back to the emergency room to treat enterocolitis. On January 6th at 7 weeks old, Crue stopped breathing and was rushed again to the emergency room in an ambulance. It was quickly determined that because of Hirschsprung’s, Crue was in septic shock. They quickly got him prepared for the medical team that flew in from St. Louis. The doctor and about a half dozen nurses worked on him for three hours. After several failed attempts at an IV the doctor had to perform an IO because his veins were starting to collapse from dehydration and glucose levels were dropping below 60. Both attempts of the IO into each femur failed. Thankfully after much prayer, a RN tried again and his IV was successful, thanks be to God! Crue was then life flighted to Children’s Hospital where he is still currently in the NICU. Not only is he fighting for his life from sepsis, but also found out that he is suffering respiratory issues from coronavirus (NL63) which is making it very difficult for him to breath on his own so they keeping him sedated and on a ventilator to try and regulate his breathing. He is currently being treated for sepsis, hypovelemia, bronchitis, HCoV-NL63 coronavirus, enterocolitis, and pancytopenia. At this time he is stable, sedated, and on a ventilator fighting for life with the help of some of the nation’s best therapists, nurses, and doctors! Crue still has a long road to recovery before he will even be able to have the surgery to correct his Hirschspungs disease. No parent should have to endure what Robbie and Ellie have the past 7 weeks, and I am praying that we together can relieve some of the financial stress that will come from the medical bills, food, travel, time off work and any other expenses that may come their way so their sole focus can be Crue. Please if you can help financially we would be so incredibly grateful, but if not we would appreciate you sharing this fundraiser just as much.
Our family thanks you from the bottom of our hearts.
sincerely,
