Hello everyone. I am posting on behalf of my friend Malini and her husband Kiran who are seeking help to fight Kiran’s Stage 4 Metastatic Prostate Cancer and multiple fractures. We thank everyone, family and friends who have been a great strength to this family. Your prayers, help and encouraging words have been uplifting and a strength for the entire family.
It all started in November 2020, when Kiran had a fall in the washroom and fractured his right thigh bone. He had a femur fracture surgery, and it was during these tests that Kiran was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Prostate Cancer, which has spread to almost all the bones in his body, including his jaw. To make matters worse, two weeks ago, he fractured his neck and injured his spine which has restricted his movement to a great extent. He bent down a bit to pick something from the chair and his neck bone snapped in two places. He is now on a neck brace, unable to move his neck either sides, or sleep on his side since November 2020. He has to lie constantly on his back.
Kiran lost his job a couple of years ago and unfortunately his current health benefits are not enough to cover his cost of treatment and medicines. The doctors are giving aggressive radiation and relevant treatment to contain the aggressive cancer spread. As per the doctors, Kiran is responding well to radiation and injections and would like to continue the medication. But the cost of these injections / medications are high, and the family is seeking help to have his treatment continued.
Since they are currently living in a basement, there is no choice for Kiran but to climb the stairs in this condition everyday for his treatment, but he is risking breaking more bones every day. As the current place is not safe for his health condition, they have been repeatedly told by the doctors and the support workers to move to an apartment or walkout basement immediately.
We are reaching out through this fund to help and ease the family with their financial burden, to help Kiran have the comfort of a home without exposing to more fractures by climbing the stairs and also support his medical needs, which is crucial and extremely urgent. Kiran has been and will continue to be subjected to lot of tests and hospital visits, which is creating lot of pain and stress on his already injured leg and spinal areas, apart from the cancer pain.
Kiran is a very positive person and has the determination and zeal to fight cancer and his fractures. His main wish is to see his daughter graduate from University, so please help him heal and fulfill this dream.
