Kira Anstead & Family
Donation protected
Fundraising for my cousin Kira Anstead and her Family. Kira was taken into the Stollery Children's Hospital In Edmonton on the night of september 16th after just not feeling well and vomiting. After meeting with the Drs and having a bunch of tests done it was found that Kira had a cancerous brain tumor in the back of her brain the size of a mandarin orange. The tumor required immediate attention as it was blocking cerebrospinal fluid from draining and the fluid was building up at dangerous levels and putting pressure on the little one's brain. The team of doctors and nurses at the Stollery wasted no time and booked her for surgery to have a drain put in so the fluid and pressure could be released off of the brain. Kira handled this first surgery like a champ and a few hours later on september 17 she was booked for another surgery to remove the tumor. Kira was in surgery for a few hours while her parents Tina and Dave anxiously waited her return from the operating room. The procedure to remove the tumor went well and Kira spent the night in the Peds ICU at the Stollery. Coming out of anesthetic Kira was violently ill but she conquered the brain surgery like a warrior and made it over one of the biggest hurdles in this process.
All of this happened so sudden and out of nowhere with no significant symptoms other then persistent nausea and vomiting intermitently over the couple past of weeks. Prior to this Kira was a happy, active, full of life, loving 10 year old girl that had the world at her disposal. This sudden and tragic news about our beloved Kira has shook our entire family as it was unexpected and there also was no previous family history.
Kira has now been moved onto the peds Intermediate care ward at the Stollery and her team of nurses and Doctors say she will be in hospital for a minimum of 10 days but could be there more then 4 weeks. We are still awaiting the final pathology as a result of the procedure and now it's time to help her and her family. Tina has not left Kira's bedside and Dave has also spent every possible moment right there as well.
This fundraising page is here to help provide any financial support to Kira and her family during this most difficult time even in the smallest way. Tina and Dave are not able to be working right now as they need to be there to take care of their little girl. The last thing we as a family want them to be worried about is the financial burden they are going to experience by not being able to work. Please keep Kira, Tina & Dave, in your thoughts and prayers as they get through this difficult time, and we thank you for your donation to help them on the road to recovery and treatment.
