Hi everyone! On Thursday night my little nugget Kira went to the ER due to a bloated/distended stomach. They ran x-rays and blood work and found that her the sac around her heart was filling with fluid as well as her abdomen. They did a tap which helped drain the fluid surrounding her heart and recommended we transfer to another ER that has a cardiologist. Since Friday she has already been tapped 4 times due to the refilling fluid around her heart. We are looking to do a surgery that will help keep the sac open and allow the fluid to drain. We are also doing more tests, ultrasounds, etc so see if we can find the cause. For now all we know is it’s an idiopathic pericardial effusion, which simply means the cause is unknown. Any help at all would mean the world to me and Kira, her vet bills are continuing to climb every day and the surgery is going to be about $5,000 or more on top of what’s been paid for her ER and testing. Thank you for taking your time to read this and help. ❤️
