KIPP STRIVE: The Hate U Give

Kipp Strive Academy is more than a school. It's a home for me. A tuition-free public charter school for grades 5-8, located in the West End neighborhood in Atlanta, Georgia, KIPP STRIVE continues to embody their Success Through Rigorous Instruction, Virtue, and Enrichment. A school centered upon being calm and positive, STRIVE provides an environment encouraged with love, fairness, and empowerment. The film, The Hate U Give, is about a young girl, Starr, who lives in two different worlds. Witnessing the fatal shooting of her best friend at the hands of a police officer, Starr must find her voice and stand up for what's right. This was filmed right in the center of STRIVE's neighborhood. As an alumnus, I have witnessed STRIVE's dedication and sacrifices they have made for their students. It breaks my heart to see that STRIVE is not in the position to take the students to watch this film, help me make this happen. There is no such thing as a donation too small or too large. This film is not just a movie to these students, this is their home and community on film. Thank you.
