KIPP One Primary, also known as KOP, is part of the greater KIPP Public Charter Schools Network. The acronym KIPP stands for the Knowledge is Power Program, and is a non-profit network of 209 college-preparatory, public charter schools educating early childhood, elementary, middle, and high school students. KIPP One Primary is entering its second year of existence as a ground-up Elementary school. This means that, beginning with one grade of Kindergarten students last year, our school will grow by one new grade each year until it is a fully developed K-4 school. I will be on the founding First Grade team, solo-leading a classroom of 30 children. To inspire our students to work towards a college education, we name our classrooms after colleges and universities. Mine will be named Williams College, and themed accordingly (think mountains, purple and yellow, and lots of cows!).
Although it is very exciting to be part of a growing school, as I will have the opportunity to help shape both curriculum and culture, funding is limited. I would be extremely grateful to receive your support in any way possible, as I hope to purchase a number of things to make my classroom/grade-level space a productive, warm, and nurturing environment for eager and hopeful 6-7 year olds.
Here are a few items that I will be able to obtain with your help:
- Classroom Library Set (Leveled Books)
- Book Bins and Baskets
- Supply Shelf/Corresponding Bins
- Alternative Seating (options for seating that help students with disabilities learn away from the traditional desk space; exp: yoga mats, standing desk, cushions, wiggle chairs, scoop chairs, fidget bands, beanbag chairs...)
- Library Rug
- Mailbox/Paper Storage
- Privacy Folders
- Treasure Box/Toys
Thank you so much. Any contribution will go a long way towards helping my students meet their goals. Please feel free to visit this site for more information:
All my best,
